PRECISAZIONI Somalia, Tagikistan e Brunei vietano il Natale – Bufale.net

In tanti ci avete chiesto se il sultano del Brunei, un piccolissimo ma ricchissimo paese del sud est asiatico di circa 415 mila abitanti (di cui il 65% di religione musulmana), avrebbe vietato ai suoi cittadini di celebrare il Natale, pena fino a 5 anni di carcere. Non solo, si parla anche di Somalia e Tagikistan.

Brunei: potrebbe influenzare i musulmani

Il controverso sultano del Brunei Hassanal Bolkiah, tanto contestato per la sua “moralità” e quella della sua famiglia, molto rigida nel far rispettare la religione islamica per poi fare quello che vogliono, ha vietato di festeggiare il Natale nei luoghi pubblici e ai musulmani. Si, avete capito bene, lo ha vietato ai musulmani.
Non sarebbe la prima volta, infatti già dal 2014 aveva imposto i divieti. Ecco quanto riportato dal The Brunei Times il 27 dicembre 2014:

Referring to recent reports in the local media regarding visits carried out by the Religious Enforcement Division under the Syariah Affairs Department, Ministry of Religious Affairs to several business premises, restaurants and eateries owned by both Muslims and non-Muslims in the Brunei-Muara District which publicly displayed Christmas decorations such as Santa Claus figures, Christmas trees, banners displaying Christmas greetings, and sales personnel dressed like Santa Claus.

La motivazione? La celebrazione di tale festa da parte dei cittadini musulmani potrebbe avere effetti negativi su di loro e danneggiare la loro fede:

Muslims should be careful not to follow celebrations such as these that are not in any way related to Islam, for it is feared that this could lead to tasyabbuh (imitation) and could unknowingly damage the aqidah (faith) of Muslims.
Muslims are prohibited from imitating the customs and practices of other religions that are related to matters of aqidah (faith).

La differenza è che per questo 2015 le pene sono diventate più severe, da 20 mila dollari a 5 anni di carcere.
Ecco quanto riportato dal Guardian:

Religious leaders in the sultanate warned this month that a ban on Christmas would be strictly enforced, for fear that Muslims could be led astray. “Using religious symbols like crosses, lighting candles, putting up Christmas trees, singing religious songs, sending Christmas greetings … are against Islamic faith,” imams said in sermons published in the local press.
Punishment for violating the ban is a five-year jail sentence, and the government warned last year that Muslims would be committing an offence if they so much as wore “hats or clothes that resemble Santa Claus”.

Il Guardian riporta la testimonianza di un cittadino malese residente nel Brunei:

“This will be the saddest Christmas ever for me,” a Malaysian expatriate resident told AFP, requesting not to be named for fear of reprisals from authorities. “The best part of Christmas Day is waking up and having that feeling that it is Christmas, but there’s just none of that here and you just feel deprived. “All this is just because of what the sultan wants. In 2013, I saw many Muslims together with Christians having a good time at their house parties. Everything was normal and good,” he said.

Intanto gli hotel di lusso della catena Dorchester in giro per il mondo, di proprietà del sultano del Brunei, sfoggiano tranquillamente gli ornamenti natalizi.

E i credenti cristiani? Anche a loro è vietato?

Gli unici a poter festeggiare il Natale sarebbero i credenti cristiani, così come le altre festività per le altre religioni, ma a precise condizioni:

Meanwhile, believers of other religions that live under the rule of an Islamic country – according to Islam – may practice their religion or celebrate their religious festivities among their community, with the condition that the celebrations are not disclosed or displayed publicly to Muslims. This is stated in the Fatwa of the State Mufti of Brunei Darussalam (Siri 03/2005).

Insomma, a condizione che non vi sia il coinvolgimento di credenti musulmani e dopo aver notificato alle autorità le loro intenzioni.
